It took my husband and I about an hour to assemble the crib together... the directions were pretty easy to follow, and thankfully the company is nice enough to send you an "S" alan wrench, an "L" alan wrench and a little screwdriver... so you wont have to go searching for tools! Some parts of assembly might be easiest if you have someone there to help you! (especially when you fix the crib to the changer) We had no problems with shipping... but it took about a week and a half to get here (normal in the wild west)... so if you are in a time crunch... you might want to pay the extra for a faster shipment!
So once assembled-
Pros: The cherry color is beautiful! It is dark and very pretty! The crib is nice and sturdy, and compared to MUCH more expensive cribs this one is nice. Having the changing table attached will definitely be handy for those late night diaper changes. It is compact, but you may want to measure your room because it is bigger in real life than it LOOKS in the product photos. the drawers and shelves are spacious, and the drawer pulls are very nice chrome. The changer DOES include a simple changing pad. One major pro- the price! This crib set is SO affordable and multi-functional, which makes up for all of the cons-
Cons: the changer is a PART of the crib... so you cannot use the changer as a separate dresser until the bed is converted to a full size bed. This means that if you have a regular crib bumper with ties... the side that is attached to the changer has no slats to tie the bumper into. It is not a big deal for me (i just tucked the ties behind the bumper to hide them), but it is worth noting. Also... it looks like the veneer on the crib is easily "dinged" up if you accidentally hit it with anything hard. Basically, just don't start knocking it around too much.
In closing, sure it won't compete with a crib that costs $1000+, but this is a sturdy set that is well worth the investment! I can easily foresee this lasting my baby through high school using the crib, then toddler bed, daybed and finally full size bed. if you are on the fence about whether to buy this crib, I say GO FOR IT!
