I absolutely adore how this coffee table looks. It is so elegant and the pullout drawers and slide outs all-around it are a great feature. The legs are also sleek and modern but still comfortable. I went to see this coffee table in person in the Ashley showroom before buying it and I would suggest doing the same because there are some quality issues that may bother you - I decided that I loved the look of the table so much that it wasn't an issue, but you might feel differently - I'll tell you the problems below and you can decide for yourself.
Cons
1) The drawers are super cheap feeling. Mostly particle board and slide mechanism is extremely crappy - half the drawers almost fly out and the other half barely slide at all. The handles are really nice and so is the rest of the table so I am not sure why they didn't put more money into the drawers. It's a pretty expensive table and I am suprised that Ashley furniture built something so beautiful with such crappy drawers. In the end, this was my biggest concern but I loved the look of the table too much to let it bother me. I think I might insert some weights into the back of the drawers and put a lining in them (which is what Ashley furniture should have done). Also, I just received it tonight, but I'm going to have my husband see if the track mechanism can be upgraded or at least fixed so the drawers slide better.
2) The slide out pieces are also cheap feeling. There are wood pieces that hold them in place and one of mine isn't attached, luckily I found it in the shipping materials and I am hoping (fingers crossed) that my husband will be able to re-attach it when he gets home from work. Otherwise that slide will be super crooked.
3) The finish seems like it will get ruined quickly. In fact, I almost refused the delivery because the top of the table I got has an indention under the color coat. It looks like its in the wood, but its clearly a blemish and I was upset at first but the seller yelled at me (no kidding) when I called to report it and with all the trouble I had with their company from the beginning I couldn't bear to think of dealing with them for a return so I decided to deal with it - mostly because they bullied me into it by telling me I'd have to pay for shipping back to them and then shipping to Ashley's and then shipping for the new one to me (I already paid them $75 to have this one shipped). Anyway, that's a whole other complaint (see below). The finish was also weird and uneven looking on the bottom shelf piece - again I told this to the seller immediately and got the run around.
4) There are no floor protectors for the legs? Its weird because there are holes in the legs like it was suppose to come with those furniture caps, but I didn't get any and so all I can say is the table should come with them and I'm suprised it didn't. Even low end furniture comes with those! Again, something I figured I would get at Lowe's so not a deal breaker for me.
Pros:
1) The table is HEAVY! In a good way! The table top is solid and so is the shelf and the legs. Again, the only thing that doesn't seem real are the drawers and the pull-outs, the rest of the table is nice wood.
2) The finish is this gorgeous deep brown, almost black, which I love. If you don't want black furniture then I would find something else because it definitely looks black. I really didn't want anything with a red finish because I have oak wood floors in my living room and the cherry finish just looked so weird next to it. This finish is neutral and looks elegant. I like that it doesn't clash with the other wood finishes in my home.
3) The handles! I love them! They are modern and heavy. Nice accents on this table.
4) The legs! There is something so cool about how the legs are cut, they're not just straight and so it makes them interesting - at least to me anyway!
5) Storage space - even though I'm not a huge fan of the puny drawers they put on this gorgeous table, I am a fan of having drawers all around the coffee table. I wanted a lift top that was smaller, but this works just as well for storage purposes and looks better than the plain lift tops.
6) The pull-outs - again, even though I think they are way too cheaply made for this table and what it costs, I still love the pull-outs for drinks and small plates. I think this will really help preserve the finish on the top (which I think is probably pretty delicate).
7) It was easy to put together - I am a 28 year old small female and I put this together all by myself. And it looks great. The shelf is so heavy though - I did have a hard time with that - and getting it into my living room because it comes as 1 big heavy top with the drawers all in it, 4 legs, and the shelf. The top part is extremely heavy - at least for me!
8) It looks amazing - I am in love with how this looks. The size is fantastic, even a little smaller would have been great, but it is slightly smaller than your average coffee table which is nice. Whatever you do, do NOT and I repeat do NOT buy from AtHomeMart (also goes by the name Mintra corporation). This was a disaster! They sent me an email to call them to give me delivery instructions before they would release it to the freight company, so I called them asap and they went over all the rules about do not sign for it until you see it is not damaged, once you sign for it then it releases the freight company from responsibility, etc. etc. Okay got it no problem. ... BUT then It didn't arrive on time and when I tried to track it, the freight company said they didn't have any record of it. When I contacted the seller they told me they would work on it and get back with me. Several days later, I hadn't heard anything and so I contacted them, they then told me it appeared the package was "lost" and they were trying to locate it and I would have to wait! Then randomly at 7am today (Friday) while I was getting ready for work the delivery company calls, when I answer, they hung up. I called back and they said the truck was on its way from Orlando and would be at our house between 10am and 2pm! Well thanks for the heads up! Geez! Luckily my husband doesn't go in to work until 12:30p so we asked if they could make it before noon or after 4:30p when I would get home - the guy said no that would cost extra to set up a special delivery and they need a 4 hour window between 10am and 2pm - remember he is calling the same day he wants to deliver it. So my husband calls his boss and gets permission to come in at 2pm. At 4pm, my husband was still waiting and his boss was needless to say not happy so he left to come to work. I was on my way home and low and behold there is the driver in front of my house. Nice! He was pushing the paper in my face telling me to sign - whoa buddy, you are late and cost my husband 4 hours of work! He said they never told us they would be there between 10 am and 2pm! OMG! Seriously??? I told him I received instructions from the seller that I couldn't sign it until I inspected it, the delivery guy told me I couldn't inspect it until I signed for it.... WTF? Twilight zone. So I called the seller and a manager got on the phone who asked to speak with the driver - the driver refused to take the phone saying that he did not know this guy and could only talk to his boss - this went on and on for an hour!!!! Finally the delivery guy's boss lets us open the package, the seller asks to stay on the phone so he can make sure everything is okay (I'm thinking that is nice right? wrong), we open it and the packaging was done nicely, there was a huge indention on 1 side but the box was double boxed and bubble wrapped so the indention didn't hurt the table (thank God!). But the top of the table had an indention in it and the shelf finish was all uneven and looked messed up, so I told the manager (seller), the manager then proceeded to yell at me that obviously that is how the table is suppose to be - I told him I would usually believe that but I actually saw this table in the Ashley furniture showroom and it isn't suppose to be like this, he then told me that I would have to pay all these shipping fees if I didn't accept it and kept yelling about how he is good to his customers (again WTF? you're yelling at me), finally I just got off the phone with psycho manager guy. I was so exhausted at this point with dealing with these people that I just told the delivery guy I would sign for it. He told me to write down what happened and let me make a copy of the signed form. Then he left me with a huge mess on my porch and I realized I had no way of lifting this enormously heavy coffee table into my house! Nice! And the shipping cost me $75 by the way. Anyhow, I kept the table, marred finish and all and here it is in my living room. The good news is that at least I don't have to deal with that seller ever again, and I hope no one else that reads this does either.
