(More customer reviews)I was looking forward to this product, it has a nice, clean look that I knew would be perfect for my living room. The box arrived unblemished, so I opened it up. The wood is incredibly flimsy, and cracks / splits easily. There are pieces of wood affixed with small brads that started out loose and came apart almost immediately during assembly. I ended up needing to buy another bunch of screws just to get it together, and still find it very sub-par.

Just the right size table when a lamp is neccessary behind sofa and a small display area as well. The glass top with the decorative iron below is a nice touch. The wood frame is stable and a nice color. When received, there was an area slightly scratched at the wood base, however it can be touched-up. Overall, not a bad purchase.

It's very solid and has a nice glass top. It's really a nice piece of furniture. The only note I might make is that the height is different than post end tables. It's about 3-4" higher than most end tables, but it looks great.

I the wood is really cheap and is splintering everywhere. I have gotten 3 splinters in my hand already. The wood pieces the go into each other to form the table are not cut to the right size so its like impossible to get the table to put together right. I kinda got one together but it was a wobble uneven mess and looked ridiculous so i had to re take it apart. This table is just no practical. I will probably have to send it back.

Perhaps in a failed attempt to make the rubber mat flat, the manufacturer puts double-sided tape between the rubber mat and the stainless steel. Unfortunately, the double-sided tape does not stick well to the rubber, which bunches up in wrinkles, causing it to be difficult to stand up small objects on the mat without them tipping over. Even more unfortunately, if you remove the rubber mat, you have a bunch of stuck, messy, double-sided tape to clean off the stainless steel.

I thought it had all the charm of an authentic Asian piece but without the hefty price tag. It was better than all the other Asian end/night tables available. It also appeared to be durable, and as advertised, a "fine handcrafted wood chest." Having only owned it a short period of time, I was surprised to find several cracks have begun to appear on both the top and sides of this chest. Because it isn't a quality wood, the cracks don't add to the charm. Instead it looks cheap. I can't for the life of me figure how a new piece of furniture would have more cracks in it than any of my antique pieces dated more than 200 years old.
The company that shipped it to me said the manufacturer was not willing to compensate me in any way explaining I was outside my warranty period. The company itself offered 50% off a future purchase. That hardly makes me whole. Rather, it makes them several hundred dollars richer. And the manufacturer makes out like a bandit.
I wouldn't advise anyone purchase this piece if they are looking for it to contribute to the beauty and character of their home for the long haul. Spend the extra money and get a better quality product that actually uses a quality wood!

These nightstands are a basic brown, not the rich, deep (almost black) color of the other Winsome espresso products. The chemical smell was also awful. We've had them for almost a week, and they're still sitting outside offgasing. The build and wood quality was poor compared to the other Winsome products, too.

(More customer reviews)...until I got it. The leg was broken. There were NUMEROUS scratches and defects in the finish. It was uneven in a lot of places but particularly at seams. And the joints didn't really fit together. At one joint there was a gap about 1 cm in width. This is after waiting six weeks to get the item. Apparently they didn't have any in stock when I ordered it and it took 1 month for them to get it in stock. I sent them an email with attached photos of the damage and hope to get a full refund on the item. I'll post an update once the transaction is completed...but for now, I would definitely not pay the asking price of $650 for such inferior quality.
UPDATE: Just got off the phone with the supplier. They are going to have FedEx come pick up the item tomorrow and issue a full refund. Couldn't ask for a better resolution to the issue. Highly recommend the seller- definitely don't recommend this item however.

Aesthetics: 1/5 - Looks much better in the picture; in real life, the materials look a bit cheap. Also it came with (and still has) an unpleasant odor inside.
0/5 - The "leather" detail (actually, more like thick paper strips) are attached with small nails and perhaps some adhesive... one of the nails came off already and the strip is hanging off. Also, it is not sturdy enough to use as seating.
Ease of Use: 2/5 - As a table, it does OK. It is a bit of a hassle to open and close though, as the straps flail about and get in the way.
